Hey Guys,
The sanctity of human life is not a negotiable issue for Christians—it is a fundamental, biblical truth. Abortion is not merely a political debate or a social concern; it is a direct affront to the authority of God as the Creator of life. As followers of Christ, we are called not only to oppose abortion but to actively work toward its total abolition. Scripture provides a clear and compelling case for why abortion must be eradicated and why Christians must boldly stand for life.
Life Begins at Conception
The foundation of any discussion about abortion must be the Bible’s teaching on when life begins. According to God’s Word, life is not a vague or philosophical concept—it is a reality that begins at conception.
Abortion Is the Shedding of Innocent Blood
God abhors the shedding of innocent blood. There is no blood more innocent than that of an unborn child who has committed no crime.
Christians Must Demand Total Abolition
It is not enough to merely be “pro-life” in sentiment. Christians must be active in the complete abolition of abortion. The Bible calls us to speak out, defend the helpless, and establish justice.
The Gospel and Abortion
While abortion is a grievous sin, the gospel of Jesus Christ offers hope and forgiveness.
Conclusion
Abortion is the intentional destruction of God’s image-bearers and must be abolished completely. Scripture makes it clear that life begins at conception, that abortion is murder, and that Christians have a duty to fight for the unborn. As the church, we must pray, speak out, rescue the innocent, and refuse to accept anything less than full abolition. May God grant us the courage to stand for life and proclaim the truth with boldness until the sin of abortion is eradicated from our land.

- God Creates Life in the Womb
- Psalm 139:13-16 – “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my formless substance; And in Your book were written all the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.”
- This passage clearly shows that life is not a product of human decision but of divine craftsmanship. God is the one who forms, knows, and ordains every life before birth. Abortion is an attempt to destroy what God has intentionally created.
- God Knows Us Before We Are Born
- Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
- Life is not accidental or contingent upon birth. God’s purpose for each person begins before they are even formed. This verse applies not only to Jeremiah but to every human being created by God.
- Unborn Children Are Fully Human
- Luke 1:41-44 – When Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visits Elizabeth, who is pregnant with John the Baptist, Scripture tells us, “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”
- The unborn John the Baptist is described as a “baby” (Greek: brephos), the same word used for infants outside the womb. The Bible makes no distinction between pre-born and post-born life.
Abortion Is the Shedding of Innocent Blood
God abhors the shedding of innocent blood. There is no blood more innocent than that of an unborn child who has committed no crime.
- God Condemns Murder
- Exodus 20:13 – “You shall not murder.”
- Murder is the intentional taking of an innocent human life. Since life begins at conception, abortion is the unjust killing of a human being, making it a direct violation of the Sixth Commandment.
- God Hates the Shedding of Innocent Blood
- Proverbs 6:16-17 – “There are six things that the Lord hates, Seven that are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood.”
- The unborn are the most innocent and helpless of all human beings, and abortion is the shedding of their blood. This passage reveals God’s strong condemnation of those who take innocent life.
- Child Sacrifice Brings Judgment
- Leviticus 18:21 – “You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God; I am the Lord.”
- Psalm 106:37-38 – “They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons, And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was defiled with the blood.”
- In ancient times, pagan cultures sacrificed their children to false gods, a practice God condemned in the strongest terms. Today, abortion is the modern equivalent of child sacrifice—offered not to Molech, but to the idols of convenience, career, financial stability, and personal autonomy.
Christians Must Demand Total Abolition
It is not enough to merely be “pro-life” in sentiment. Christians must be active in the complete abolition of abortion. The Bible calls us to speak out, defend the helpless, and establish justice.
- Rescue Those Being Taken to Death
- Proverbs 24:11-12 – “Rescue those who are being taken away to death, And those who are staggering to the slaughter, oh hold them back! If you say, ‘See, we did not know this,’ Does He who weighs the hearts not consider it? And does He who watches over your soul not know it? And will He not repay a person according to his work?”
- We are commanded to intervene for those being led to their death. This is not a passive call; it is an urgent command to rescue the helpless.
- Speak for Those Who Cannot Speak
- Proverbs 31:8-9 – “Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, For the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
- The unborn cannot speak for themselves. Christians must be their voice and stand up for their right to life.
- Reject Compromise and Incrementalism
- Some argue for “common ground” solutions, such as restricting abortion after a certain point in pregnancy. However, Scripture does not support partial justice. Just as Christians would never accept a law allowing slavery in limited cases, we must reject any law that permits the killing of innocent children in any case. Incrementalism delays justice. Full abolition is the only righteous course.
The Gospel and Abortion
While abortion is a grievous sin, the gospel of Jesus Christ offers hope and forgiveness.
- Christ Died for All Sin – 1 John 1:9 reminds us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Women who have had abortions, men who have encouraged them, and doctors who have performed them can all find redemption in Christ.
- The Church Must Offer Grace and Support – Christians must provide compassion and practical help to women in crisis pregnancies, offering real alternatives to abortion.
- Eternal Life Is Our Ultimate Hope – Abortion is the destruction of physical life, but Christ offers eternal life to all who believe in Him. Our mission is not just to abolish abortion but to lead people to Jesus.
