Good morning,
What do you pursue? People will answer that question in many different ways. However, there will be a common theme to each person's answer. Each person will pursue what is important to them. Different things are important to different people. I would hope and pray that every believer would answer that question with one word, "God". The pursuit of this mother was God. She sought Jesus Christ because she knew that no one else could do for her child what Jesus Christ could do for her child.
22And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.”
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Mt 15:22.
She pursued Jesus Christ with tears. "she began to cry out." When is the last time that you came before Holy God with tears? We should be broken over the things that break the heart of God.
We need mothers today who will come to Jesus tearfully on behalf of their children.
There doesn't seem to be any real urgency on the part of "believers" today. If you have a child, other family member, friend, co-worker, etc., that is without Christ, nothing should be more urgent to you than to bring them to Christ.
She also pursued Jesus humbly. She said, "have mercy on me." We have forgotten what humility is. Sadly, the culture we live in has invaded our lives and we are becoming an entitled people. Entitled people will never be humble.
We don't deserve for Jesus to have mercy on us. It is not something we are entitled to have. However, Jesus will show us mercy when we approach Him in humility.
Serving Him,
Bro. Joey
