Good morning,
What an exciting day we had this past Sunday! I know that New Hope's best days are ahead of us because of John 3:16. God really does love us soooo much!
18“I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Mt 16:18.
God will not fail. He will do what He said He would do. The "rock" Jesus was referring to was Him and He will not let His church fail
For God
God is sovereign. He has all authority over everything in heaven and on earth. That is why you can believe Him when He says, "the gates of Hades will not overpower it."
His sovereign authority should also give you the confidence to trust Him when He says that God loves you that much.
So Loved
The depth of His love for you is so deep that it is difficult to comprehend but God, in His Word, explains the depth of that love.
8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Ro 5:8.
4But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Eph 2:4–5.
He knew who you would be. He knew what you would do. And, yet, He loved you enough to give His life for you anyway.
The World
2and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), 1 Jn 2:2.
When Jesus says that God loved the world, He meant that God loved the world. The work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary was sufficient for anyone to be saved, but it is only effective for those who will confess with their mouth Jesus Christ as Lord.
Why should we be so serious about sharing the love of Jesus with those around us? We should take it seriously because God takes it seriously and He has commanded us to share that with others.
Serving Him,
Bro. Joey
