We Must, Individually, Accept Jesus Christ As Savior

Good morning,

God doesn't have "grandchildren". I have had many discussions with people about their salvation and have heard things like, "well, I go to so and so church" or "my parents go to this church" or "my dad is a deacon at such and such church". I'm glad you attend church. I'm glad your parents go to church. I'm glad your dad is a deacon. But, none of those things save you.

12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Jn 1:12.

You aren't saved because someone in your family is saved. You are saved because you believed in the gospel and received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is a life changing thing in your life, literally.

    1Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?”
5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7“Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
8“The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Jn 3:1–8.

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive us of our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins and rose again is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We receive Christ by faith, as an act of our will.

11And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), 1 Jn 5:11–13.

Serving Him,

Bro. Joey
