Good morning,
There is a great deal written about a mother's love. It is true, a mother's love is a beautiful thing to see. The mother in Matthew 15 had that same love for her child. Her child was demon-possessed and this mother's love for her child caused her to be burdened, to be sad.
21Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon.
22And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.”
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Mt 15:21–22.
A mother will do whatever she can to end the suffering of her child. This is evident in our passage. I don't want to "scare" mothers, but I need you to know that Satan is after your child.
8Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), 1 Pe 5:8.
The reality is that Satan wants to bring as much destruction as he can. You had better know that. You can do everything in the world to help your child be successful. You can help them grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, but you had better not neglect them spiritually. You had better make their spiritual growth your #1 priority. Nothing else you will last eternally.
Stop letting culture dictate to you what is important for your child. School is important. Sports are great, but the spiritual is what lasts. Be like this mother. Take you concern for your child to Jesus. Bring them up in God's Word. Take them to God's Church.
We have gotten our priorities out of whack. We have put God on the back-burner. It is time to make God, and His church, a priority. Eternity is literally at stake.
Serving Him,
Bro. Joey
